Turn of a Phrase - October 15, 2014

Six people were in attendance.  Four brought work to show.  The theme for November is Rocks.

The theme for October was "A Turn of a Phrase" which means an expression which is worded in a distinctive way, especially one which is particularly memorable or artful.

I think we all accomplished that!

Mary couldn't decide which way was up!

Use What You Have.

There is roving, polyesters, silk and petals from an old flower applique that were found in her scraps bucket.  She layered them onto a background of muslin and placed a white tulle over the surface.

Batiks that were raw edge stitched to the background.  Craft Board was inserted to give  the piece body.

Judy

 The Apple of My Eye

Her apple was watercolor painted on a piece of light colored batik.  It was then thread stitched.  The apple was cut from that piece and appliqued with invisible thread to the current background.

The Lay of the Land

This was a landscape that was made by layering the various fabrics, turning under an edge and stitching them down.
