This was a face free motion quilted on a piece of Ecology Cloth dyed with acorns and bark. I had to fight the squirrels for the acorns.....and I lost, so the piece is not a dark as I would have liked.
Mary
This was a piece originally done in an Ann Johnston dye class about 3 years ago. The workshop was about creating black dyes. Mary overdyed this fantastic piece. The coins are from a World Coins Collection from her teaching days. She will investigate ways to adhere the coins to the surface.
Renee
The origami folded flowers dot the landscape of this Lake Meadow. Renee generally does hand embroidery, so the machine work on this piece is unusual for her. The piece used for the farthest mountains is perfect to show the crags on the peaks.
Judy
Rust. Rusty pieces. Found objects. All put on a painted canvas and overstitched with dyed stiffened embroidery flosses.
Her Alligator piece was accepted into the Houston Show. Congratulations!
Judy is handpiecing the Millifliori Quilt from the book The New Hexagon using ties.
Renee is working in a series using blocks arranged in strips.
Mary found some of her Paula Nadelstern pieces from a previous class.
Mary also brought a piece from the Marianne Williamson workshop.
Glen showed a rusted Ecology Cloth rusted with a $3.00 saw purchased from a resale shop. It looks like the Grand Canyon or the Arches. It has the potential to become a triptych.
Judy showed some pieces she created using various techniques like monoprinting and gelli printing.
